How to audit a scanned JPEG2 file on iMac?

I have scanned a document to my iMac. Comes up as a jepg2. How do I audit the file

I’d expect the file extension jpeg2, and not jepg2.


jpg and jpeg are the same, though there are some format variations including jpeg2000.


What do you mean by “audit”? How to view it?


If it’s really somehow named jepg2, rename it.


Otherwise, try to open it with Preview or Photos app


Preview can convert various formats, as well: Convert image file types using Preview on Mac - Apple Support
