How do I access a deceased person's locked iPhone 16 Pro Max as the estate executor?

I am locked out of an Apple I-Phone 16 Pro Max. My person died on July 12, 2024. I had the phone with me but did not try to open it for several days because I use an Apple 13 Pro Max and had no need to use his phone. My friend passed away in Hospice Care. (Bristol Hospice) he was placed there by Kaiser Hospital South Sacramento, CA.

We are sorry to hear of the loss of your friend.

There is a link to an important Apple Support document that you will need. Please note that Apple will only honor a request from a close family member or, if the deceased person designated another individual for access to the iPhone, that designated person can submit documentation to Apple.

My condolences to the lost of your friend. If you are the rightful inheritor of the iPhone and data, Apple requires legal documentation before they can assist in unlocking a deceased person’s Apple Account.

Please review and submit your request:
