Share Mail.app Message (on mac) to Apple Notes?

On iOS, I can share a specific mail message (arrows -> print -> share -> Apple Notes), but I cannot figure out how to do this on the Mail app on MacOS. There are many times I'd like to have the contents of an email put into my PKM, which I use Apple Notes for.

Any suggestions beyond copying and pasting? (I'd like to retain the mail meta data as well as the message).

Hello rodddog,

The only other way I know is to drag the email and drop it in an existing note.

It's a bit tricky to achieve:

  1. In Notes, create or view the note where you want the email to be linked.
  2. In Mail, start dragging the email from the email list.
  3. Move the cursor to Notes in the Dock (on my Mac Notes and Mail are in 2 different Spaces).
  4. Wait for Notes to become the active window. (This can take a few seconds.)
  5. Move the cursor to the location where you want to drop the email link. You should see that the cursor display a "+" icon.
