Why won't my Canon MG3620 connect to my MacBook Pro running Ventura?

I purchased a new Canon MG3620 printer and followed the steps to print wirelessly using the Canon website and software. It worked for awhile, but then quit working. So rather than trying to solve that issue, I went to the wired solution, connecting to the USB on my MacBook Pro purchased in 2018 (currently using Ventura v. 13.7.5 and Safari v. 18.4). This worked for awhile, but then only if I held my mouth right (lol) and now not at all. My machine doesn't see the printer, getting error code 300 (not properly connected......). After some research on the Canon forum, I understand that the USB C on my Mac may be underpowered causing the issue and that Apple is working on a solution. Not sure if this is the case or not, so I tried to connect wirelessly again (a convoluted process in itself) with unsuccessful results. So I am basically dead in the water with this POS printer. Anybody got any recommendations or solutions? Canon is no help. I tried customer service, but since the printer is out of warranty (I bought the printer more than a year ago to replace my old HP printer which was on it's last legs, but limped along for about a year before I installed the new Canon) I got no help, unless I want to pay for service. Not happy.

For reference, here's the support page for that printer: Canon Support – Pixma MG3620

The Technical Specifications sheet says that the printer "Works with Apple AirPrint" – which means that you should not need to use the Canon printer drivers to get basic printing functionality working.

Here's Canon's Support page on how to set up wireless printing under macOS. It looks like they want to to hook up the printer to your local Wi-Fi network – as expected. They also want you to install and run some program on your Mac to complete the installation.

You no doubt know that there are some steps to be followed to connect a printer to the computer, be it with a wireless or a wired connection. Have you followed those steps? For example, if you use a wired connection, normally a printer driver needs to be downloaded and installed. Then the printer must be selected and set up in the Printers and Scanners section of the System Settings app. Please provide more details of what exactly was done.

Thanks for the reply. I followed all of the installation procedures using the setup routine obtained from the Canon website (http:/canon.com/ijsetup) for both wireless and wired connections. In both instances the printer cannot be found. The printer is setup and is shown in the "printers and scanners" section of the Systems Settings. Like I stated in my original post, both wireless and wired connections worked when I first tried them after the 1st installation attempt, but now neither works. I just recently went through both procedures again (wireless and wired) using the Canon setup procedure to no avail.

Well.........thanks for all the replies, but I tried something simple. After stewing over this issue it dawned on me that maybe I should upgrade the USB cable, thinking that the intermittent issue I was an experiencing was perhaps a faulty connection (when using the wired option). The cable I was using that came with the printer needed an adapter to connect to the USB on my Mac. I purchased a cable that would plug directly into my Mac w/o the need for the adapter and eureka! Problem solved, at least for the wired option. This won't help with the wireless option, but I don't care. I'm fine with being at least able to print now using the wired connection.
