How do I regain access to my SD card after upgrading to macOS Sequoia 15.4?

SD card has been connected to the SD port and has been working well until I upgraded to macOS Sequoia 15.4. Now there is a red minus sign on top of it and when I try to access it I get a message that I cannot open it since I have no access rights to it. Rebooting doesn't help, and neither does removing the card and re-inserting it. Also, I tried connecting it to one of the USB-C ports with an adapter, same result. What can I do? Is there going to be a Sequoia 15.4.1 which might address this issue?

It could be a bug that you have found. However I don't see that problem with Macs I use on 15.4. In any case, have you tried selecting the SD card, choose File => Get Info and then, if necessary click the padlock in the lower right of the Get Info window to unlock, then select "Ignore ownership on this volume"? You can also directly change read and write privileges for different users and groups in that window but ignoring ownership might fix it right away.

Do you have another computer that you could try it on? Maybe a friend's?

It doesn't appear to be some widespread problem. Some people couldn't even mound those cards with 15.0, but this doesn't appear related. I couldn't replicate that problem, either.

How is it formatted? You should still be able to see that in Get Info.

Thank you, that is a good idea. I have an old Windows computer with an SD card slot in storage, I will try that. The disk format is ExFAT.

Apple has implemented a new method of mounting FAT volumes. You may have discovered a problem with that implementation.

And now I have tested the SD card with my old Windows computer and it worked perfectly. All data is safe and intact, I just can no longer access it with my Mac, due to the Sequoia 15.4 upgrade. I wonder if there is any way to roll back to 15.3.2? Switching back to a 15-year old Windows computer is hardly a viable option.

What brand of SD card are you using?

Transcend. Below there is a link to the exact product. But I seriously doubt this is about SD card brand since this very card has worked fine for a couple of years, over at least a dozen macOS upgrades but then suddenly stopped at macOS 15.4. And still works with a Windows computer. https://www.amazon.de/Transcend-Highspeed-Speicherkarte-Digitalkameras-TS1TSDC300S/dp/B09XR6SDWK/?th=1

Same problem here after updating to 15.4.1. SD card is visible in slot but I can not change permission and access card with large music collection in ALAC from finder and MUSIC app. Card is recognised and format (ExFAT), capacity and space can be read in info but Sharing&Permissions shows: You have no access and this can not be changed in the info SD card. Card is unlocked and readable in other devices. No problem with other devices, SSD and HDD with large photo files.
