Shared iCloud Calendar creating duplicate events on my Calendar app

My wife and I share out iCloud calendars with each other. Whenever she adds an event to her calendar, it adds it to mine as well as to hers. In other words, I'm seeing the event on my calendar and on hers.

Is there a way to adjust our settings so any events she shares with me only show up on her calendar?
