I can't find a specific reference that says that Activation Lock will remain intact after an automatic erase, but given the purpose of Activation Lock and the fact that Apple stores the association between your Apple ID and phone on their servers, I would guess that it would.

Note how they do say that "When you erase a device remotely using Find My, Activation Lock remains on to protect it." (third Support article).

Presumably the information that a device is in Lost Mode is stored locally, as well as on Apple's servers, but I would guess that they special-case that and preserve that information across an automatic or remote erase.

Passcodes and passwords - Apple Support

"On iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Vision Pro, to further discourage brute-force passcode attacks, there are escalating time delays after the entry of an invalid passcode, password, or PIN (depending on the device and the state the device is in), as shown in the table below."

"If the Erase Data option is turned on for iPhone, iPad, or Apple Vision Pro (in Settings > [Optic ID], [Face ID], or [Touch ID] & Passcode), after 10 consecutive incorrect attempts to enter the passcode, all content and settings are removed from storage."

Activation Lock for iPhone and iPad - Apple Support

"Activation Lock turns on automatically when you set up Find My.* After it's turned on, Apple securely stores your Apple ID on its activation servers and links it to your device. Your Apple ID password or device passcode is required before anyone can turn off Find My, erase your device, or reactivate and use your device."

Erase a device in Find My on iPhone - Apple Support

"When you erase a device remotely using Find My, Activation Lock remains on to protect it. Your Apple Account password is required to reactivate it."

Automated translation (from French):

"Erase data after 10 failed passcode attempts

Hello community,

I have a question about this setting:

Erase data after 10 failed passcode attempts

I find this option useful in case of theft. However, I'm not sure what exactly happens after 10 attempts.

Are only the photos and documents contained in the files erased from the device? Or is the entire iPhone erased, like a factory reset?

If the iPhone is erased, does it remain connected to my iCloud account and is it unusable by anyone else? Or is it locked?

Or, once erased, can it be used by anyone like a new device? If so, there's no point in enabling this option.

I know my question may seem silly, but Apple's explanations aren't very clear.

Thanks in advance if you have the answer."
