Can I reply to a locked thread on the Apple Support Community?

I'm browsing the Community for questions to answer . Sometimes the thread is closed after a month or two . If I know the answer , is there a way to tell the person who posted it ?

Hi again Anne!

I concur with H1290's idea as a workaround.

However, I think the more basic issue with revisiting old threads is that, in my long tenure here, I've seen very few people who post a question and then return weeks or months later to check for new answers.

Did I give you the link to the ASC site map? It's stashed three levels down from the ASC home page so most people never find it. Here: Site Map - Apple Community

I find the best way to find questions that are both recent and in need of help to use the site map to jump among forums where you feel you can best help. Coming here from a search engine instead is almost guaranteed to show you old locked threads.

I'm happy to see your continued involvement and keen interest here. I think you are doing a great job.

Hello there!

I think I remember you! Nice to see you again!

No, there is no way to reply to locked threads, and there is no way to reach out to the OP of such a thread unless you go to their “My Subscriptions” page, filter it by “Participated” or even “Authored” and see if they have been active lately. Then you could link the locked thread and talk to them that way.

But keep in mind it may be frowned upon to do that, if it’s off topic to the Original Topic of that thread, especially if the person you’re reaching out to didn’t author it. However, I think most people would understand and not make a fuss.

Have a great day!

Hey Allan

🗺️ The site map is hidden indeed , so I put your site map on my reading list for quick access & I'll browse for questions there . I didn't like the way I was navigating it ~

thanks . I think that we need a personal folder in our profile to put stuff in & access it without having a leave the Community page ?💡

💃 thanks for the pat on the back … made my day

I would rely on the email notification from Apple. I would never expect them to check back for new replies after so and so long. 🙂
