Why is my MacBook Air 2020 webcam so grainy?

Hey! I purchased my Macbook Air 2020 back in 2023. Everything's fine except the web camera. It's sooooo grainy, makes me feel like I'm using a Blackberry phone's camera. Initially, I thought it was just the default settings but apparently, it is what it is. Is there even a solution? Not sure if there are cases of allowed returns or exchanges. I didn't think that the camera would be an issue when I purchased it because my previous Macbooks' cameras were awesome! Or if this is a factory defect, idk. Hope to hear from the community!

I own a 2020 M1 MacBook Air and the web cam is fine.

It might be a defect with yours, but at this point, it's a bit late to be getting any warranty repairs or replacements. Should have thought of that at the time you first bought it so it was still under warranty, assuming it was brought directly from Apple or an Apple authorized reseller.

You are of course welcome to set up an appointment at an Apple Stored or authorized service provider to get it looked at. They will tell you your options there and any costs it will likely incur if it requires repair or replacement.
