iPhone 16 pro max only charging wirelessly and is lagging

After the 18.4 update, my phone battery is depleting faster and i can only charge via wireless. Not only that, my phone has started to lag and become unresponsive at times. Using my phone for more than 10 minutes also makes it hot.

Battery draining fast after update: After an update, your iPhone has to complete many tasks in the background, mainly indexing where your iPhone is sorting and managing a searchable database of your millions of bytes of data. This can cause the iPhone to work extra hard and as a result cause they battery to drain faster. After a few days it should go back to normal.

iPhone is “overheating”: When you also use your iPhone, especially running high-intensity tasks, it can once again also generate increased heat. This is all normal. Unless your iPhone is seeing a temperature warning message, which would shut down the iPhone and prevent you from using it, your iPhone is not “overheating”. That heat being generated is rather normal.

iPhone won’t charge: When your iPhone doesn’t charge, this usually means there is debris or lint blocked in the charging port preventing you from plugging in a cord. As a result, use a flashlight and a thin toothpick to carefully get any of that out.

iPhone is slow: Try a Forced Restart to address the lag and performance issues.

Lastly if you’re still having issues, note that your iPhone 16 Pro Max is still under the 1 year limited manufacturers warranty, so I suggest you get service at your nearest Apple Store Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Troubleshooting iPhone Charge:

Visit the following links for tips on troubleshooting this...

I. Try what is on this Link: If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't Turn on or is Frozen - Apple Support

II. View the Battery Health:

Apple recommends you get a new battery, once the Battery Health reaches 80% or lower. When the Battery Health is 80% or lower, it is time for a new battery.

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Tap: Battery
  3. Tap: Battery Health
  4. View: [the percentage]
  5. Is it 80% or less?  If so, it is time for a new battery.

III. A Few Apple Support Sites that May Help:

"Yeah i still have the same problems even after the 18.4.1 update. Just hoping they fix the bug"

-------

Report this to Apple:

So, do your Part: Provide Apple with feedback on this, letting them know about this issue.  Apple may not get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what is occurring, and what bug fixes to include in updates to come. Apple will know nothing of you occurrences, if you don't report it to them.

  1. Go Here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
  2. Select: "Bug Report" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Comment: that this all began after installing an update. Include the URL of this thread
  4. Proceed from there as necessary
