Unable to change son’s iCloud password on my new parent device

Having bought an iPhone 16 Pro, I gave my son (age 12) my previous iPhone 13 Pro Max. He signed out of his old iPhone 12 but cannot sign in to my iPhone 13 Pro Max as he has forgotten his iCloud password. Therefore he cannot access any apps on the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I tried to change his iCloud password as the parent and get the attached message. Having looked online for help, spoken to Apple Support and waited for 30 days we still can’t change his iCloud password. Can anybody help?

Hopefully before he received it, you did the following:

The word “your” appears many times in your screenshot when you’re actually trying to change your son’s information. So hopefully you followed the process shown in “Change your child’s Apple Account password…” here, and your account information is all stable and correct.
