When I try to do the fast data transfer from my old iPhone 7 to my new iPhone 16 it says that it cant compleat the transfer because it isnt connected to a internetconection e.g wifi. The thing is, it is connected to a wifi. Both of the iPhones are connected to the same wifi. So why isnt it working?

Have you followed the instructions properly? In addition to WiFi Bluetooth must also be on. Both devices must be on their chargers. You can also used a wired connection.

By chance do you use a VPN on your old iPhone? If you do, don't just turn it off, remove the VPN profile from the phone completely.
Then there’s something about your particular setup that isn’t quite right. Using the same support document connect your two phones with a Lightning->USB-C cable and follow the wired connection instructions.
So noone really knows?
