How can I fix the volume ducking issue during calls on my iPhone?

"How can I fix the volume ducking issue during calls on my iPhone?: I noticed that when I’m on call with a friend (both of us using iPhones), whenever I speak, I cannot hear them. Their volume ducks down to accommodate mine and then when I’m done, increases in volume. We might have a few things to share at the same time, I’d usually have them speak again before I can hear them or I mute myself. How do I fix this please?"
