I have the HP Inktank 316 and the inbuilt MacOs dosent have any drivers for it. It shows the printer in the list but once I send something for print it goes blank. The Package thats available here also has support till 12.5 or 15. I dont know how to edit package so it will not show the requirement for older OS. Anyone resolve this recently or can suggest step by step process?

Whenever we install an operating system upgrade or some OS updates, printers and scanners will often stop working. Then, a new OS compliant printer software must be installed. What you can do is to thoroughly check the printer web site for an updated driver that works with the newly installed operating system. If one is not available, then you should ask when one will be released. If that doesn't work, if the Printer has the Air Print feature, that can be used and no driver will be needed. If not, then you can check the respected web site below where volunteers write free drivers for older printers which are no longer supported, but which work with newer operating systems. It is worth checking out. Good luck.

Try resetting the Print System and add the printer back in.

As well, the link proved by @zooth says the current driver is compatible with macOS 15 Sequoia.

Hi @Ronasara, This is the first time I connected the printer that too only after updating the system. (its a new Macbook) I tried connecting with HP support as well, but they suggested to check with Apple support to release the addon driver which Apple releases after every update. I can still connect the printer using OTG to my phone and print easily without any hassle. The Gutenprint dosent have any support for InkTank 310 series. (Its also a new device)
Tried this, sometimes it selects the printer and move forward with installation but later the screen goes blank after 100% of download and install. Other times it just cant detect the printer (via USB)

I tried this driver from your suggestion, still similar issue. It will try to search like the screenshot attached here
but did not detect the printer.
It detects the printer using Settings inside Printers & Scanners. (but cant print) :(
I tried removing it from there then restart. It dosent detect the printer after that as well. Not sure why its so problematic to use a simple USB printer on MacOS. Either MacOs has too many bugs that they dont look at or they dont want to support plug and play devices.
When I downloaded HP's software to try to update drivers so my LaserJet Pro M521dn would be recognized by my computer again, HP's software could not even find the printer much less update firmware or anything. Dead end.
Printer was connected by USB, as always.
MacOS 15.4.1 on Mac Studio M1 Ultra, and LaserJet Pro M521dn with a history of previously working just fine with this machine.
I tried deleting to re-add the printer, and MacOS won't even list the USB-connected printer in its menu of printers to add.
