How do I utilize the full screen on a Samsung monitor in portrait mode with an HDMI cable?

I'm trying to put my 2nd Samsung Monitor in Portrait but it's not utilizing the full screen? I'll rotate in Display settings but it still uses the same portion of the monitor? I'm using an HDMI cable.
