When I copy paste recipes for instance I CONTROL CMD V paste text for the ingredients and the Directions.
Ingredient list always spaces lines
Directions don't
I try to highest the ingredients and change the spacing but that's the best it does.
Is there a way to edit the spacing?
Pasting as plain text is command - shift -V. If you want to match the formatting of the existing document, it's command-shift-option-V.
Or, use the format painting function.

Select the sections you want to edit. Control (right) click. Select "Paragraph." Adjust the "Spacing" as desired.
Try changing the font size.
You might also try pasting the content you've copied as plain text rather than formatted text.

Not the line spacing but in the window called AFTER. After a little back and forth I found that a 2 pt was perfect

Yes, that's part of the line spacing settings I directed you to in my first response. Glad you figured it out.
It kept the same spacing and now the tops of all the lines are cut off. Two lines are overlapping.
I'm not sure how to fix that
I've tried changing the font. As I said I pasted Control Command V. No luck. I think there must be some sort of code that carries over during the copy paste
