The file could not be autosaved. Your most recent changes may be lost

I am running Numbers 14.4 with macOS Sequoia 15.5 on a MacBook Air M1.

File size 120 MB.

Suddenly I get the Message "The file could not be autosaved. Your most recent changes may be lost."

I have to go back to a earlier version of the Numbers document.

I have seen that this problem has occurred earlier but there has been no solution. I have hade number as long as it has existed and it have never occurred before.

What to do?

Where is the document saved? Locally on your machine? or in iCloud.

If in iCloud then it requires a network connection. If your network connection is weak or broken, then the file can't be saved.

Is the file shared? Are other users actively editing the document at the same time? While Numbers usually handles this well, there may be cases where the file gets out of sync which could cause this issue.
