Vertical Alignment in Pages is Missing

Hi! I'm trying to center the text vertically in a Pages document. It's plain text, no text boxes, no tables, just text on a page. When I go to Style in the Format sidebar there is no option for vertical alignment. Horizontal alignment and increase/decrease indent are there but the vertical alignment is not. It's not that it's available but greyed out; it's just not there (see the attached image).

Vertical alignment works on selected document objects such as shapes or text boxes via the Arrange panel, but not on plain body text. You can manipulate your top margin and/or suppress the heading in the Document panel to increase the height of your centered body text for faux vertical treatment.
