Airpods Pro 2 HearingAid/HearingAssistance Not Showing or Working Why ?

Brand new latest firmware as of July 2025 Airpods Pro 2 on Iphone 14 ProMax Latest IOS July 2025.

The airpods are paired with the iPhone, I can take a hearing test which shows moderate loss but the screen where you have Hearing Aid Feature /Hearing Protection options are not showing.

I live in Spain and the UK. My Iphone has Spanish Sims in it but I am connected to the UK App Store not Spain. My region is set to the UK,Language is set to UK only.

I know Spain does not allow the Hearing Aid or Protection Feature yet but I would have expected the Hearing Aid option to work based on the fact I am connected to the App store in the UK and my Apple account is British not Spanish. I have never connected to the Spanish Apple store.

I have removed the paired Airpods, re - paired and still no hearing feature is shown.

I am now at the point of returning them as I only purchased them for the Hearing Aid feature as I have moderate hearing loss and used the hearing amplification function on my old airpods pro but on these new ones I can not even use this basic function.

They do nothing to amplify sound at all. I am sure this is to do with being in Spain even though electronically I am technically connected to the UK App Store .

Normal Tech support have no idea and want be to reset my iPhone, that is not going to happen

I have also tried them on my wife's iPhone 15 pro max, same problem......

Please advise further as this is driving me insane !

Thanks for any help.

PS. I have even tried connecting it to my home dedicated UK VPN wifi and no difference.

Re: Airpods Pro 2 HearingAid/HearingAssistance Not Showing or Working Why ?

Seems no-one. while in any country where the Hearing Aid Features have not been approved for use by that country's government approval process, is able to install the hearing-aid features there. The settings within the phone don't seem to be the deciding factor.

Apple's original hearing aid features news release made it clear they were not available in some countries, and what approvals were necessary. Marketing and / or health regulators in over 100 countries approved the use of the hearing health features in their countries, before Apple released them last year.

Apple Support's article (link below): lists the current countries where authorities have given approval ... a list for each feature. AirPods Pro 2 - Hearing Health Feature Availability - Apple

You may want to ask the appropriate government authority in your country why there's no approval.

Eg: In USA It is the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that gave approval

In Australia it is the Therapetic Goods Administration (TGA ) that gave approval

Meanwhile:

Besides the newer features that require approval, Apple has previously provided hearing-assistance for AirPods.

So AirPods Pro 2 can already help with hearing, with or without the new Hearing Test and Hearing Aid feature.

Am no expert in this area, yet, to give you some idea ... Apple Support provides articles such as:

Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency modes for AirPods - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"You can switch between Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Noise Control modes on your AirPods Pro and AirPods Max, depending on how much of your surroundings you want to hear.

You can also turn off Noise Control".

Customize headphone audio levels on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Conversation Boost focuses your AirPods Pro on the person who's talking in front of you. This makes it easier to hear when you're talking face-to-face".

Use Live Listen with AirPods or Beats - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"With Live Listen, your iPhone or iPad can act like a microphone that sends sound to your AirPods or Beats.

Live Listen can help you hear a conversation in a noisy area or even hear someone speaking across the room.

To use Live Listen with your AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, Powerbeats Pro, or Beats Fit Pro, your iPhone or iPad device needs iOS or iPadOS 14.3 or later.

You also need to connect your AirPods or Beats to your device."
