Am no expert in this area, yet your question deserves some response.

It is good to know you have a Phonak alternative. Seems it may not be possible to use iPhone's "Live Listen" with your brand of hearing-aids. I could be wrong.

Apple Support's online article: Use Live Listen with Made for iPhone hearing devices - Apple Support

Eg: says:

With Live Listen, your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch becomes a remote microphone that sends sound to your Made for iPhone (MFi) hearing device.

Could not find any Phonak (or Phonax) brand Hearing Aid models at all, listed in Apple Support's online list of "Made for iPhone" (Mfi) hearing aids: List of Made for iPhone hearing devices - Apple Support

Seems your brand of hearing-aids may be limited to mainly using Bluetooth for connection to the iPhone, and, using any firmware or apps provided by the manufacturer for control.

If you want: you could visit Phonak's compatibility webpage:

You can enter your iPhone model to see what info & advice is available from the manufacturer:

More info: if needed: Use Made for iPhone hearing devices - Apple Support

For Mfi hearing aids: Eg says:

"Go to: Settings > Accessibility > Hearing Devices.

To see more settings, tap the name of your connected hearing device".

Also (For Mfi hearing-aids) says: If you need help"

Try these solutions if your hearing device doesn't connect or work as expected

Hearing device doesn't appear in Hearing Devices settings

Then try again on your other Apple device.

  • Make sure that your hearing device is updated with the latest firmware from the manufacturer.

If it has its own app, that app can probably find and install firmware updates.

All the best :-)
