How can I use TTY feature on my iPhone 11?

i am used to old school TTYs, and now i am trying to figure out how to use the software TTY feature on my iphone 11. i did turn it on in my settings so now if i want to call a contact, i dial their number then click on the tty icon (711). my data provider's relay operator then responds but their text is too garbled, i cant understand anything theyre saying to me. i am on the verge of tears. i am deaf and desperately need to make a call. i contacted my data provider, they said they are NOT the problem, my iphone is. please help me and explain how to resolve this issue like i am a very slow five year old child. step by step. i am about to lose my mind.

As your iPhone 11 could be almost 6 years old, it's worth checking for a weak, aging battery which can cause various issues. So...

Does your iPhone 11 still have its original battery?

And what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...

Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging

I don't know enough about how the system works to give you a lot of advice. Do you have a friend or relative with an iPhone you can borrow to test to see if it is your phone?

i already followed those instructions for my iphone but the text from the relay operator is still garbled. please help me figure out how to fix this. i am not a prodigy computer tech wiz. i have no idea what to do.

i cant use a standalone tty machine with a mobile phone. and i dont have a landline phone either

I suspect the problem is not with the iPhone but somewhere else in the system, possibly with the relay operators themselves. It's been decades since I've used a TTY, though.

Does this happen every time?

A lot of those mistakes look like auto-correct gone wrong. Ask the relay operator who you can talk to for support.
