Keypad tones not registering during calls on iPhone

I tried to dial different numbers, but the issue is the same: once I am in a call, I can open the keypad with no issues, but the number I press (for extensions, for choosing language etc) does not get registered so my call doesn’t get forwarded. I did all the updates for my iPhone 16, I restarted it and I did a reset of the networking settings, but I still have the same issue.

This is sadly an issue the callee will need to fix.

On cellular systems you do not actually send a Touch-Tone key press; instead an out-of-band message is sent via the cellular network to tell the other side of the connection to generate a Touch-Tone sound on the receiving end of the call.

Since these tones are generated by the receiving end, they are sometimes too short for the system you are calling to interpret them as touch tones.

The only way to fix this is for the system you are calling to install software that properly recognizes the shorter tones generated by the receiving end of the connection.

There is nothing Apple can do to fix this, it's purely a cellular carrier issue.
