How to turn on assistive touch with a broken screen

I have an iPhone XR running IOS 18.6 with the bottom of the screen non-functional, at the hello screen (or reset to factory settings) how would I turn on assitive touch, so I can set the phone up?

It's kind of like asking how to steer your car if the steering wheel doesn't turn. And the answer is you can't. Just like you can't use assistive touch if the screen is broken. Personally, at this point, I wouldn't pay to have the screen replaced. iPhone XR is not eligible to get iOS 26 when it is released in the next month or so. I'd be more inclined to take whatever money it would cost to have Apple replace the screen and use that money towards a new iPhone. It's your choice of course.
