Logic Pro deletes the first selected region instead of the last one clicked

I'm constantly deleting regions by accident!

I have a region selected, in this case a midi region, I work on other things like mixing, then it can be an hour later, I select a track to delete it, I hit delete and the MIDI region that I selected earlier is deleted even though it's off screen, and not the last thing I selected. If this is a desired action it is very inconvenient and is causing much headache!

Anyone else have this issue?
