so, a while back i put a rw dvd into the drive, worked fine!, now i tried to burn a regular cd and the powerdrive showed up as: DVD RW DRIVE, and when i burned it it showed as a data disc?!?!? i wanna burn a cd to listen to help would be greatly appreciated

We can more effectively help you here when you give details. We are not Apple but other end user; we have no way to see nor remotely access your device to see key details, OS version, etc.
Details that will help us better help you with this are:
— What Apple device, including sub-model (the part with a year)?
— What OS version is it running?
— is the optical drive built into the device or an external drive?
— If external, what make and model?
— Are you using aftermarket disk-burning software? If so which one?
Many of the most experienced helpers here are old and not very good at guessing! 😉
Also, I am not familiar with "powerdrive." Do you means Apple's now-discontinued "SuperDrive" external USB-powered optica disk reader/writer??
