Old HP laser printer not working with my iMac after Sequoia update

After updating to Sequoia, my older HP laser printer will no longer scan. It does print. Is there an apple generic printer software fix?

There is no generic printer software fix.

Check HP for an updated driver for your printer/scanner. You didn't say the model number, so we're at a loss to help you further.

You could try Airprint if your printer supports it.

Sort of, but it is not advertised as such. The protocol is called Image Capture Architecture (ICA). Some companies provide ICA drivers under that name, and others just provide the driver under some generic scanning package name.

Have you checked the HP support site for a new scanner update? Note that you will have to select macOS 15 from the OS list because it will choose macOS Catalina automatically.

Thank you SO much for sending me to the apple support article regarding Image Capture. I had been using Image Capture for years, after HP stooped supporting my 10+year old color LaserJet, and it worked perfectly. After the Sequoia upgrade, it didn't automatically load at restart and I'd forgotten about it.

Now that you've reminded me, all's well in my world.

Your generosity in sharing your expertise is much appreciated.
