'Find My' M1 Air Issue: 'Find My Mac' says OFF despite being ON in settings. Any ideas?

Hey everyone,

I'm having a frustrating issue with my MacBook Air M1, and I'm hoping someone here might have a solution.

I've been trying to get Find My Mac to work, but it keeps showing up as "Off," even though all the settings seem correct. Here's what I've done so far:

  • I've gone to System Settings > iCloud, and Find My Mac is toggled ON.
  • I've checked the Location Services under Privacy & Security, and it's enabled for Find My.
  • I've signed out and back into my Apple ID.
  • I've rebooted the Mac multiple times.

Despite all this, the status still says "Find My Mac: Off" in my Apple ID settings, and it doesn't show up in the Find My app on my iPhone. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a known bug or a fix I might be missing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

If you are behind a WiFi router, or other kind of router, the ports for the FindMy link may be blocked.

If you use VPN, they could definitely be blocked. Proxies can do that as well.

If you are renting the router from the internet service provider, make sure they don't have any "public" network enabled, as this can cause issues for the primary secured network.

had similar issue here. any update? mine, the option menu/toggle for 'findMy' is missing (yes, i did click on the apple id icon as well to find the option menu). hopefully it will be fixed soon, sick of need to switch on the tethering everytime to connect (previously it connect automatically without toggling on tethering button )
