No sound from AirTags after battery replacement

I have two AirTags that need there battery replaced. When I do this, there is no sound from either AirTag. I have checked the battery in another device and it is a new working battery. Any suggestions? I have turned my phone off and on with no changes. I have deleted both devices off my iPhone. I have tried adding new tag and it can not located the tags
