Pre-ordering iPhone and deciding between delivery or pickup.

Scheduled to pre-order an iphone 17 pro max tomorrow morning and am wondering what the timeline of delivery usually is? I’m out of town next weekend (9/18-9/21) and don’t want it to get delivered on launch day and then stolen. Also, if I chose the pickup option, would I be able to choose the date/time when checking out?

iPhone 15 Pro Max, iOS 18

Don't choose home delivery if you won't be home, unless you can have someone at your home to sign for the phone. It is mandatory to sign for them when they are home delivered. If you choose Store Pickup, you typically aren't given a choice on the day, from past experience, Apple will typically hold an ordered phone for in-store pickup for up to 7 days.

Normally the targeted delivery date will be the 19th.

Obviously security IS a concern. Thieves clearly know UPS trucks will be loaded-up w/ new iPhones.

Picking it up at a store is certainly more secure and reliable. (plus stores are open on days UPS isn’t delivering)

If you can’t make the “system assigned” pickup date at the store, you can easily make revised arrangements. (Instructions will be provided in your “pickup appointment” email)

Apple doesn’t want your new phone to get snatched off your porch any more than you do.
