lost text in pages when app shut down

I have an iMac and use pages. I put my desktop on icloud so I could access files on a laptop. I added text on an existing file that was going to iCloud, but the file accidentaly got closed. When I went to open it up, i had lost 25 pages if text. Is there a way to retrieve it. when I opened it up, it said it was unable to download my changes.

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 13.7

Pages does not autosave document contents until you manually perform an initial save and give the document a proper name other than Untitled.pages. Without that critical save, any content in Pages will be lost forever if the application is deliberately, accidentally, or quits owing to a crash. There is no recovery for this category of lost content.
