Files stored on iCloud corrupting when internet signal drops

I've been sorting and cataloguing documents into an archive file using excel. Because the wifi signal is so poor I'm connecting to iCloud via my mobile phone. I've recently noticed entries have been duplicated across tabs and a few other corruptions to the data. I suspect this because my laptop frequently loses contact with my phone's hot-spot. Is there any way I can avoid this happening?
