2019 iMac with 3.6Ghz Core i9 not compatible with macOS 26 Tahoe

I'm a little annoyed my machine isn't compatible with MacOS 26 Tahoe. I did a custom configuration when I purchased it maxing out nearly every option to delay its obsolescence. Why are some i9 machines supported while others are not? Also, it's 2TB SSD, not a HDD. Specs below.

It's Apple's policy to support Macs for 5 years after they are last sold (by Apple). Your 2019 iMac was discontinued in August 2020, >5 years ago. The 2019 16" MacBook Pro was discontinued in October 2021.

For macOS version support, Apple goes by model and not by processor.

With rare (one?) exception*, BTO/CTO variants of a particular model are all supported. Or are not supported.

macOS 26 is the end for the remaining Intel x86 Macs, too.

You’ll have a couple of years (with patches) to decide what you want to do, which might well be nothing.

Apple has had Mac announcements in October in 2023 and 2024, too.

Five to seven years of usefulness is fairly typical for Apple gear.

*Mac Pro (Mid 2010) or Mac Pro (Mid 2012) with Metal graphics support. (Details)
