I thought the new system had an option for a transparent menu bar? The internet say the setting is in System Settings > Appearance and checking the box next to "Show menu bar background". I don't see that checkbox. How do I turn the transparent menu bar on?

Also, basic question: but have you tried restarting your Mac with the setting switched off?

It may depend on the wallpaper. It's more obvious on some than others. For example, with this wallpaper it's not very obvious in the center of the screen (left part of the screenshots).

It's not a bug. It works on every Mac I have running Tahoe, as it does for the vast majority of others.
