iCloud "Passwords and Keychain" & "Password App" Use with caution
Word of advice for those using the Apple password app across devices. Use a Mac computer to backup your passwords. iPhone and iPad cannot export your passwords, but can share one at a time with airdrop. I enabled iCloud "password and keychains" on an M1 Mac mini and instead of merging the passwords with iCloud, the passwords on the Mac mini replaced those on iCloud and deleted over 300 passwords. I watched them disappear on my iMac, then my iPhone, when I realized what was going on I got my iPad and turned off wifi. I saved my all passwords on the iPad but cannot share them with the iMac or Mac mini because you need to turn on wifi for airdrop to work. If I turn on wifi it will sync with iCloud and delete over 300 passwords. Apple support cannot do anything about it, I got bumped up 2 times in support level and spent over an hour with them on the phone. My options are to use my iPad to copy all the password one at time to a cvs file or turn off my internet connect, then enable wifi on the iPad and reload them with airdrop.
Can anyone think of any other options?
I think it may be time to return to 1Password.
