Bought airpods pro 2 from ebay, had issues with updating, checked is it still under coverage, noticed it saying it’s being repaired, have a feeling weird feeling about these airpods. After reset the version number changed into weird numbers as well

As stated, get a refund. Assuming the purchase was done correctly you should be protected by the eBay buyers protection policy.

There are way to many reports of scams and damaged items on these forums, when it comes to Apple products being purchased off of eBay, Amazon, and Craigslist. So, I recommend that you purchase these from Apple, or a local retailer. That would be your most reliable source for official AirPods.
