Brightness greyed out using Tahoe 26.0

Check System Settings > Displays, make sure it's set to the Apple XDR preset. If it's set to something 'below the line' then the brightness setting is disabled.

The SafeBoot, then restarting, worked a treat. Thank you @leroydouglas !

There are several places to adjust bright ness...

if this is a new issue with the upgrade—

it begs the question if you shutdown and restarted more than once

I have a similar problem but Safe mode didn’t do anything?
