17 Pro telephoto lens light leak (?) exposed with process zero

Excuse the demo subject matter, but a homogenous view illustrates the problem best (along with low light shots). One of these was taken with process 0 and the other was taken with Apple’s processing. Is it me, or is Apple’s processing disguising a hardware issue?

Anyone else see this kind of thing with their 17 Pro while using process 0? Does it happen on the pro max as well? (I assume so)

Yep, I've seen the same with the telephoto lens. I'll also note that I first saw it on my 16 Pro 5x lens a few months ago after installing the iOS 26 Beta. I believe it's a software bug, not (strictly) a hardware issue (I say strictly because it could be a hardware issue that they cover up in software, and the 'bug' here is that the coverup stopped being correctly applied with third party RAW captures, but I'm speculating).

It's visible in all lighting conditions, but easiest to see in very dark shots.

First image here was taken at night on an iPhone 17 Pro 4x lens in Halide, with Process Zero, and exported as RAW. The orange in the bottom right is from a light source just out of frame. The left side of the shot should be completely black. That's where you see the light leak.

Next image was also taken on iPhone 17 Pro 4x lens, Halide, Process Zero, exported as RAW. More typical nighttime shooting conditions, the light leak is clearly visible on the left.

Last image here was shot on an iPhone 16 Pro, running the iOS 26 beta this past summer. It was shot using the app Lampa, which shoots RAW, using the 5x lens. Daytime shot, light leak visible on the left side again.
