cannot drag windows in mac os tahoe

By any chance, is System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Drag windows to menu bar to fill screen turned ON?

That one bit me when I upgraded from Ventura to Sequoia, and I wouldn't be surprised if it is turned ON by default in Tahoe, too.

Apple has of course NOT disabled dragging windows... that would make using your Mac nearly impossible...

Perhaps you can clarify exactly what you are trying to do.

If you are mirroring your screen to your iPad, any window you have is also displayed there (that's what mirroring means...).

Perhaps you can post a screenshot to help describe what you are trying and what is not working.

Solved my problem. It was all caused by the fact that I had an old version of the texts.com app running in the background (possibly crazy specific), but removing that fixed it all.

Note: Texts is now beeper.com (one of those all your messages in one app apps that is pretty slick).

This fortunately is NOT what most users are experiencing, so there must be something peculiar to your setup.

Start your Mac in Safe Mode, and test. Same problems? No?

Restart normally, and test while running in a new user account. Same problems? No?

In Safe Mode I'm able to move windows like they normally do. I'm disabling non Mac extentions and startup items and seeing what happens.

Do you mean Screen Mirroring, or Sidecar?

Seems to be OFF by default (I haven't scrolled that for down the settings pane since upgrading to Tahoe).

What is "the same thing" that happened to you?

The OP has not replied to any of the comments, and his statement does not make sense - dragging to an iPad when it is mirroring. Mirroring means the two screens show the same thing, so any window that you see in your mac screen will also be on the iPad.

After installing Tahoe I'm having the same issue that dlewis8888 explained. I can't drag windows, I can't get apps to appear on the front of the screen without using the dock (which works sometimes) or minimizing other apps that are in the way (because I can't drag them anywhere else). The menu bar across the top is unpredictable as to which app it is a menu bar for. Still working to find a solution.
