MacOS Tahoe Contacts update won't allow you to cut and paste info without reformatting

I use my contacts to share information and create call sheets, spreadsheets with crew names and numbers all the time and with the new update you can't grab an email or phone number and paste into into anything without having to reformat everything. The text color is white and there's a highlight on the text as well that I spent a while trying to remove in an email and finally just typed it out myself. This is a huge problem. I work in film and television and we all use contacts constantly for making a multitude of documents. Is there a way to fix this? I didn't see any settings to change it. Please help.

When you PASTE the information into your spreadsheet, rather than use Command-V, use Command-Shift-V. Doing so strips the clipboard data of all formatting, and pastes in the data using the receiving document's format settings.

Sorry, but that's not correct. The correct keyboard shortcut for the desired command, Paste and Match Style, is Command-Shift-Option-V. That command (or it's equivalent, like Excel's Paste and Match Formatting) is in the Edit menu of most applications. Command-Shift-V is typically something else (e.g., Paste Special or Paste Results).

Since the OP mentions using spreadsheets, here are examples from Numbers and Excel.

hmmm—not sure I fully grok the situation or all apps involved....

If the issue is—it is capturing the formatting—simply paste it into plain file, and then copy off that.

TextEdit.app I have my default set to plain .txt

You can do this with key board short cuts Shift Command T to change, or from the menu >Format ,

or make a change to the Settings for the default.

Plain txt strips out the formatting

if this is a new issue in Tahoe—

To clarify further, I use my contacts / address app when I'm creating documents. So for instance, I'm on a job where we have to create a crew list to share with the team or someone asks me to send them contacts in an email like "Hey do you know any good camera assistants" so I go into my address book and cut and paste their name, email and phone number, because not everyone has an apple device it's important to just give them text. Sometimes I'm cutting and pasting into a google sheet, other times it's into a pages or numbers doc. I tried pasting into a Note first and that didn't work, it just pasted all of the formatting. Since the update the address book is formatted in a way that doesn't allow you to paste plain text it's now crazy colors, sizes and formatting. This is a huge problem, and a huge time suck. I may have to export all of my contacts into a third party app at this point which is a huge problem because I have close to 20 thousand and I get new ones every day.

yep sounds like a problem,

I am sure the Product Team would like to hear about it: https://www.apple.com/feedback/contacts

It also used to tell you how many contacts you have. I also have some 20K contacts. Most have company checked for sorting by company and which you can only uncheck on the computer not the iphone. So now, you see the overlay without the person's name, so if I have 20 people associated with that company, I can't see who is calling me from that company unless I go into edit. And I can't uncheck that person's company unless I'm on the computer. The entire Contacts app is a total mess, the developers clearly do not understand that Contacts are everyone's most valuable asset and they should friggin' invest in developing it properly. Contacts should not be an afterthought. Without good Contacts why even be invested in Apple products. Beyond stupid IMHO
