iOS 26 FaceTime calls freeze and fail

I have not had a successful FaceTime call since iOS 26. Every time I have FaceTime with iOS 26, the calls fail. After a few minutes, my camera freezes, then their camera freezes, then a pop says unable to connect. During the whole time we can still talk, but eventually, the call fails and sometimes the app crashes. When I open the app again, my camera is still frozen. I cannot use FaceTime and have switched to google meet.
