no contrast in browser accented text popup background tahoe

  1. I use dark mode and have recently installed OS 26.1, Tahoe, MacBook Pro M1. None of what is described below happened in Sequoia.
  2. When using either Firefox or Safari, when I attempt to enter an accented character, e.g., é, the accent popup window appears, but it is white. So is the text it contains. I, thus, cannot use it.
  3. Where can I set the background for these accent popup windows to be something other than white?
  4. I have reviewed the steps needed to make the accents work, and they ARE working; I just cannot see the text.

This is a bug in macOS Tahoe, and not fixed in the 26.0.1 update. It occurs on a white background, but not on a dark background. You can see that here, where I'm decreasing the width of this Apple Support Communities post window in Safari with a second Safari window behind it, that one with a black background.

Bugs can be reported to Apple here (more reports generally means they address sooner):
