Transferring data etc to another phone.

My wife doesn't like her iPhone Air and wants the Pro Max instead. Apple have arranged for the air to be returned, and I've ordered the Pro Max from the Apple Store. The Pro Max will take about a month, so the wife needs to go back to using her old 15 Pro until then.

We transferred everything to her new phone about a week ago, but haven't restored the old one yet.

Is transferring everything back to her old phone the same as it was when she transferred it to the new one? i.e. Do I need to restore her old phone and use quick set-up in reverse? The part I'm concerned about is ensuring that her phone number goes back to the old phone, along with all the data. I just need to be assured that it will.

Neither phone is locked to a network.

Unless you erased the old Phone, it still has everything it had, nothing is removed and Anything synced to iCloud like contacts, Photos, messages etc... would be accessible on the one.

It will be missing whatever she did on the Air for the last few days that isn't synced to iCloud, but that should not really warrant a complete erase of the old one.

If you do want to set it up from the new one, then yes, you would need to erase it and set it up as if it was new.
