Problem buying refurbished MacBook Pro from US Apple Store (EU customer)

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to buy a refurbished MacBook Pro from the Apple Store in the USA because the price is much more affordable than in the EU. I live in Europe, but I have a friend in the US who can pick it up from a selected Apple Store.

However, I’ve run into a problem with payment — the system requires a US billing address, and since my card is issued in the EU, the payment doesn’t go through. I also tried PayPal, but that only works with a US-based PayPal account.

Is it really impossible to place an order from outside the US, even if the pickup is done by someone locally in the States?

Has anyone found a workaround for this?

I really can’t afford a brand-new MacBook Pro with the same specs, and my son needs it for his graphic design studies, so I’d appreciate any advice or experiences you can share.

Thank you!

OWC refurbished can be very good, but are NOT the same as Apple refurnished.

Apple refurbished goods are PRISTINE, and have been returned to showroom condition, including NEW battery, and all standard accessories, if appropriate.

Apple refurbished are eligible for same warranty coverage as new and are AppleCare PLUS-eligible.

But: if dead-on-arrival, Apple refurbished can NOT be exchanged at an Apple store for NEW. They must be returned to the selling address for possible replacement or refund.
