How do I check if my AirPods are eligible for AppleCare+?

Hello everyone,

I purchased AirPods Pro 3 a few days ago and I can't get Apple care for them. It tells me that the Airpods are not eligible for Aplle care. Why is that? I was able to do so for my new iPhone 17 Pro.

Thanks.

The legalities may differ in different countries.

NB: AirPods bought from non-Apple sellers can be genuine, or non-genuine.

Seems the serial number can no longer be relied upon in order to tell

If you have genuine AirPods they are likely under warranty:

You can find their serial number, and see if you can check their status online:

See how to: Find the serial number of your AirPods - Apple Support

Where to enter the serial number online and view whatever info. is available:

Go to: View Coverage - AppleCare & Warranty

Website where it seems AirPods can be covered for Apple Care +

In US $ "From $1.49/mo. or $14.99/yr. until cancelled

AppleCare - Apple

NB: Q & A says: "For 60 days after a new Apple purchase, you can get a new plan through the Settings app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac"

Why not add it at the time of purchase?

Are you based in the U.S.? See Add AppleCare coverage to your Apple device - Apple Support; if you're outside of the U.S. you can change the country in the drop-down menu at the top of the article.

If in the U.S. I would recommend you set up an AppleCare One plan, since you mentioned you already have it on your iPhone. If you also have a third device besides the AirPods then AppleCare One would likely be the best value. See Set Up an AppleCare One Plan - Apple Community.
