Large file size after cropping, zooming, and adding transitions in Final Cut Pro

I imported one 232mb clip into my project, cropped and created a couple of zooms, and added a transition at the beginning and end. When I exported the video, the resulting file size of the mov. is 5.81 gb... I am not understanding why it is so, so much larger?

How are you exporting the project?

If you are going to Share > Export File (default) then click on the Settings tab:

And change your export codec to H.264, then check the expected file size -

is that a more expected file size? If so proceed with the export.
