Sudden change in Previewing/working with Apple Loops has me utterly confused.

I have been using GarageBand casually for years if not decades. In all that time, the loops have worked the same way: I am composing music, and when I play a loop to preview it, I can hear it along with my composition, to see if they work together.

If and when I decide to use a loop (regardless of whether its audio or MIDI), I drag it into its own track in my composition, and when I play, the newly added loop sounds EXACTLY the same as when I previewed it. It NEVER changed key for any reason after dragging.

Suddenly, now, that is not the case. Now, when I select a MIDI (green colored )loop, and drag it into a track, suddenly it gets transposed so that now it does NOT sound like it did when I previewed it.

But I can’t find anything on the internet that tells me what I can do to make it work like it always has. It’s making me insane.

Does anyone have any idea what I’m talking about and what I might have changed / can change to make it work the old way?

Thanks very much.
