If you're having issues with AirPods Pro 3, update your iPhone to IOS 26.

I recently got the AirPods Pro 3 to replace my AirPods Pro 2. They paired to my iPhone 16 Pro Max via Bluetooth and played music perfectly fine; however,

  1. When I opened the case, the pop-up showing the battery charge didn't appear (used to with my AirPods Pro 2).
  2. When I opened the case or put the AirPods in my ears, the name of my AirPods did not appear at the top of the Settings page, like it used to with my Pro 2's. Nothing to click on to get to the settings for the AirPods Pro 3. To see the settings, I had to click on Bluetooth to go into the Bluetooth settings, then click on the "i" next to the name of the connected AirPods Pro 3. The settings screen was missing features (battery percentage, etc.) on top. The top portion was blank.
  3. My AirPods Pro 3 didn't appear in the Find My app.

I had updated my 16 Pro Max to the latest IOS 18 version: 18.7.1. I had tried forgetting, resetting, and reconnecting the AirPods, but the issues persisted. I was holding off updating to IOS 26, but after these issues with my AirPods Pro 3, I decided to update to IOS 26 to see if it would resolve these issues.

Well, I'm happy to report that updating my iPhone to IOS 26 resolved all three issues. Everything is working as it should now. I just wanted to share my experience in case anyone is having the same problems I had. Updating to IOS 26 is the fix.

That's correct, and Apple mentions this also in the Technical Specifications for the AirPods Pro 3 and the AirPods User Guide.

Before you begin, make sure your device has the latest version of iOS or iPadOS installed. When pairing, your device must also be connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network, or you may not have access to Find My features.
