macOS Tahoe causing headphones to malfunction

Are there any MacOS Tahoe bugs that need to be fixed. My headphones are not working and sound comes through the speakers when plugged in. They do not show up as added devices in sound settings. This started happening after i downloaded tahoe. the only thing that can fix the problem is having to turn my computer on off and on. then after sometimes of opening and closing the lid headphones don't work. i even bought new headphones. Did support call with apple did a system wide check to see if it happened with adding another user. any thoughts?

And ...? You do not say the results of the new user account(?)

There are many bugs that need to be fixed in the RC launch of Tahoe, yes even 26.0.1 —this will be ongoing for the next year as point updates roll out.

Did you open and look at the "MIDI Setup.App" and make some changes there; and compare results(?)

if no resolve—

To be proactive you can file a bug report / submit your Apple Feedback here: Product Feedback - Apple

verify your software is up to date—

The current stable release of Tahoe including bug fixes, security updates is macOS 26.0.1

I've been experiencing the same issue on Tahoe. 'External Headphones' does not appear as an output source. I opened up Audio MIDI Setup, and External Headphones is nowhere to be seen there. I also tried a trick I've seen when browsing forums to kill coreaudiod in Terminal, but neither of them brought External Headphones back in the output list.

It seems like the computer just ceases to recognize External Headphones as a source at a very core level, and then that absence gets reflected everywhere else on the OS? I'm writing this out to add context because this is an issue that needs to be addressed soon, and I don't see many people discussing it.
