The icons on my desktop have disappeared. This happened after I deleted a mail account in Inernet Accounts.
How can I get them back?

Try going to System Settings>Desktop & Stage Manager and making sure that for Desktop & Stage Manager>Show Items you have "On Desktop" checked.

I found the solution myself:
In Finder go to desktop, select all items and pull them the desktop screen.

What icons did you have on your desktop?
Applications, some documents, screen shots, manuals, statements, a video, etc.
In my settings on desktop and stage manager, I have the checkmark on desktop. When I also put a checkmark on stage manager, it makes no difference. I still don't see the icons on desktop.
