What Authenticator app for my GoDaddy account is best to use?

Just published my website and GoDaddy is asking for authenticator app which is Microsoft 365. Do I want to do that? If not which one should I use? Sorry, but I don't even know what the app is for. That's why I'm here. What should I do? Thanks for your help. I'm creating on multiple systems at home: 2024 MBPro 2024 M4, 2021 iMac M1, 2024 Mac Mini M4, iPhone 13, i2024 iPad Air 11" (M3).

Generally, all authenticator apps perform the same fundamental function

Based on a seed code and the time, they generate a code which periodically changes.

All authenticator apps use the same basic algorithm and so will generate the same output code at the same time given the same seed phrase.

There are many apps out there, most simply add bells-and whistles to the basic functionality.

Apple’s built-in Passwords app performs this function for you already.

For a third party product - Google Authenticator is a good bare-bones place to start.

After you’ve used it for a while, you’ll be more able to choose a differant app if you prefer.

BACKING UP is essential. If you have an Google Authenticator (or most other authenticators) on your phone … and you loose your phone … you have to start over withwhich can be a laborious process.

Apple’s Passwords app really shines in this regard as it IS backed-up to iCloud and across your Apple devices. .
